Soldering refers to a technique in which lead or lead-free tin is melted into the gap of the weldment to connect it. Soldering technology is widely used in the electronics and automotive industries, such as the manufacturing process of PCB boards, FPCB boards, and connecting terminals.

The principle of laser soldering

As a fast-developing laser soldering technology in recent years, compared with the traditional electric soldering iron process, the laser soldering technology is more advanced, and the heating principle is also different from the former. It is not simply replacing the heating part of the soldering iron. The laser belongs to the “surface exothermic” and the heating speed is extremely fast, while the soldering iron is slowly heated by the “heat transfer”.

Electric soldering iron soldering process

  • 1. Heat the soldering iron to a suitable temperature
  • 2. Align the welding part and heat it to the fusible temperature
  • 3. Supply tin solder and continue heating
  • 4. Finish feeding and continue heating
  • 5. Remove the soldering iron and complete the solder joints

Laser soldering process

  • 1. Laser irradiation of the part to be welded to reach the melting temperature of the solder
  • 2. Supply tin solder and continue to irradiate
  • 3. After the material supply is completed, continue to irradiate to achieve welding
  • 4. Continue to irradiate and shape the solder joints
  • 5. After shaping, turn off the laser
